端 午 节 (Duan Wu Jie) also known as Dragon Boat Festival was created thousand years ago just because of this guy

He was a poet and had committed suicide in a river because of the disgusted government, Chu King.

Well maybe he had enough of all those bloody hell government and think that death is better than to see what the government is doing to the people.

Now you can get to eat this Zong Zi, dumpling, you have to thank him for such a delicious food in this world.

people from his time knew that he was a good man and to prevent the fish from eating his body, they threw this zong zi down the river for the fish to eat.

they also use the dragon boat to scare the fish away from his body and thus, dragon boat festival is created in this way.

zong zi is wrapped with bamboo leaves and filled with glutinous rice, meat, red bean, chestnut, mushroom, salted duck eggs, peanuts and whatever you can think of

We have a local association for dragon boat and that is

they will be having a competition on 30th June & 1st July 2007 at Bedok Reservoir from 10am to 6pm

so if you are free on that day, you might want to see this dragon boat competition.
